About ALGON

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON is a duly Corporate Affairs registered association of the 774 Local Governments and Area Councils of Nigeria.

Its membership is institutional but physically represented by the Local Governments Chairmen. It was officially inaugurated in 1999.

ALGON is therefore the statutory and representative platform for Nigeria’s 774 Local Governments and Area Councils providing the forum through which Local Governments’ leadership engage one on one on issues of grassroots governance, service delivery, socio-political and economic development, institutional strengthening and advancement of local communities.

ALGON’s E-Birth Registration is a secure, easy-to-use digital system that helps local governments register births promptly and accurately.

BHCPF

ALGON’s BHCPF (Basic Health Care Provision Fund) support helps local governments effectively access, manage and deploy BHCPF resources to strengthen primary health care services.

Nutrition 774

ALGON Nutrition 774 is a nationwide initiative working across Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas to strengthen community nutrition services and reduce malnutrition.

Clean Energy

ALGON Clean Energy supports local governments to adopt sustainable, affordable and resilient energy solutions that power essential services and spur local development.
