Functions
Provide a forum for discussion among members and with other relevant bodies on matters of interest to Local Governments
The functions of the Association include:
- The periodic organization of Local, State, National and International training programs, courses, congresses, seminars and conferences;
- Collection, collation, study and distribution of information relating to Local Government;
- To provide facilities and services including journals, magazines and other documentaries to improve Local Government Administration in Nigeria;
- Rendering expert advice and services on Local Government matter;
- Providing consultancy services intended to enhance the availability of high-level man power for the Local Government;
- Providing support services to Local Governments;
- Advising the States and Federal Government on Local Governments’ policies and other related matters;
- Co-operation with National and International bodies on matters of common interest to Local Governments;
- Organizing exchange programs for Local Governments within and outside country;
- All other lawful functions which may further the objectives of the Association.

Sustainable good governance at the Local Government level through better service delivery at the grassroots.
