About ALGON
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON is a duly Corporate Affairs registered association of the 774 Local Governments and Area Councils of Nigeria.
Its membership is institutional but physically represented by the Local Governments Chairmen. It was officially inaugurated in 1999. ALGON is therefore the statutory and representative platform for Nigeria’s 774 Local Governments and Area Councils providing the forum through which Local Governments’ leadership engage one on one on issues of grassroots governance, service delivery, socio-political and economic development, institutional strengthening and advancement of local communities.
